The Justplug Resilience Solution for Utility Customers

End high power bills + safeguard against outages

Prolonged power outages throw a monkey wrench at everything, from irrigation and food preservation to running life-saving medical devices, leading to inconveniences, monetary losses, and even life-or-death situations.

When the power company turns off electricity in low-density areas, outages often last for days — making it even more critical that folks have backup solutions. We've got plenty of sunshine here, so why not take advantage of it?

Off-grid solar is ideal for building true energy independence in the rural Sunbelt region. It’s maintenance-free and doesn’t rely on external factors like fuel delivery when things get unpredictable.

Our off-grid solar solutions put you in charge. There are no corporate brokers and paper-pushers to add to the expense. Nor will there be anyone who doesn’t understand what it means to live the ranch life selling you cookie-cutter solutions not designed for our environment.

Two birds with one stone: You can lower power bills, too!

We flip the script: Instead of letting your solar equipment sit idle on normal days, you can use solar as the primary power source and the grid as backup (for high-power applications or during cloudy days) to slash your power bills — you can make your investment back in just a few years.

Additionally, our modular and expandable system design allows you to easily add more solar panels to increase power production, upgrade inverter capacity to run more appliances, or boost battery capacity to storage needs — without a system overhaul or extended downtime.

We do solar differently.

Our design + engineering covers all the bases

Unlike many solar companies that shove whatever sits on the shelf to their customers and grossly overdimension their solutions to cover their behinds, we design an off-grid solar solution around your lifestyle and definition of resiliency.

Our design + engineering process ensures each solution is customized to our clients’ requirements and vision for their property:

  • Detailed load analysis and energy efficiency consultation

  • Periodicity calculation for commonsense dimensioning

  • Straight-talk tradeoff discussion to guide budgeting and decision-making

  • Solar trajectory calculation and production modeling

  • Terrain and vegetation assessment to understand real-life impact

  • Storage sizing calculation and battery chemistry selection

  • Safety and redundancy planning for reliability and resilience

  • Inverter and battery provisioning and programming to maximize performance

  • Future expansion roadmap considerations

  • Remote system tuning, comprehensive onboarding, and optional ongoing monitoring

You get a system that helps you stay self-sufficient, balancing:

Capacity + Reliability + Cost + Expandability

… without paying for capacity you don’t need:

Justplug Resilience Solution in action

This solution meets most of the client’s consumption requirements (a one-person household with irrigation needs to sustain a rainforest), including a 1.75 HP, 240V well pump. Besides providing ample backup for outages, it makes a substantial dent in their monthly power bills.

The setup consists of 12 utility-grade refurbished solar panels, one 6000W 240V inverter with built-in SCC and auto-switchover feature, and a custom-built high-endurance lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery (7.68 kWh).

On a typical sunny day, it can simultaneously run the well pump, a. mini-split air conditioner, Starlink, LED lights, a laptop, phone chargers, a TV, a typical modern fridge, a chest freezer, a microwave, and a washing machine.

This solution is designed for a two-person household to meet the client’s daily usage requirements — including a well pump and an electric oven. During the first 10 days post-implementation, the client saw a $84 reduction in their Edison bill!

What if you want to add capacity later?

The modular and expandable system design allows you to easily add more solar panels to increase power production, upgrade inverter capacity to run more appliances, or boost battery capacity to meet nighttime power usage needs — without a system overhaul or extended downtime.

Moreover, we build all our solutions as appliances (i.e., they plug into an outlet and are not hardwired into a structure’s electric circuit). You can unplug the setup and move it anytime without much fuss.

How much does the resilience solution cost?

Our boutique service approach means we customize every solution — we evaluate everything from the property’s terrain to your definition of resilience to design a solution that meets your needs. The result? You can expect a price tag less than the typical one-size-fits-all installer while getting a solution that fits your lifestyle.

That’s a long way of saying the cost depends. A modest, no-frills implementation for a two-person, single-building household typically starts at around $16k. We can provide energy-efficiency consultation to help you save on solar costs.

One thing we know: Nobody likes surprises, and we do our best to keep them to a minimum. After we discuss your needs and assess your site, we provide a fixed-fee quote. If the scope changes during the project, we’ll discuss the cost implications with you first.

What the solution doesn’t include:

  • We’re not a construction company and don’t provide construction services. You are responsible for building a frame for the solar panels and mounting them before the on-site work begins.

  • We’re not a licensed electrician company and don’t provide electrical services. We assume your house’s/cabin’s/trailer’s electric circuits are safe and draw a reasonable amount of power.

  • We don’t provide permitting advice for building and securing the solar panel frame.

Why Justplug?
