Whole-Property Internet/Security Camera Coverage
Today’s connected security cameras (like Wyze) are very user-friendly. You can monitor them via a smartphone app, talk to the person on the other end, and see what’s happening at night with the infrared lighting.
However, these devices cater to urban/suburban homes where people only need one or two cameras close to their internet routers. If you want to install more than three cameras spread throughout your property, chances are nothing will work as advertised. The cameras will stream and respond sporadically and with delays, while the increased bandwidth requirements slow down everything connected to your internet.
So, can you get 24/7 reliable surveillance throughout your ranch?
It all starts with ensuring you have enough bandwidth to feed the beast. Our whole-property internet/security camera service includes nerdy things like spectrum surveys, link budgets, directional antennas, and channel re-use to get internet where it needs to be.
But we don’t want to sell you fancy schmancy stuff if you don’t need it. Here’s how we can help you get your eyes on what you want to protect:
>> 1. Whole-property internet + cameras
Whole-property internet + cameras
We help you beam internet throughout your property to support multiple cameras (and other connectivity needs). Most clients get decent internet coverage out of these projects, providing enough bandwidth to play music and make phone calls across wide areas, but may fall short if you want to do HD video streaming or gaming in the stable ;)
On-site consultation to assess terrain, distance, and requirements.
System design and network planning to support WiFi connectivity across the property and multiple smart security cameras with high-quality SD cards for reliable local storage.
Technology research and sourcing all materials (including mounting posts, wires, and fixtures) required for the installation.
Equipment/network configuration, subnet setup, and spectrum planning to ensure secure and sufficient connectivity for wide-area coverage.
Custom system build, on-site implementation, and thorough system testing.
Camera account configuration and setup (all you need to do is install the app and log in) and client onboarding, including system and software walkthrough.

There’s no one-size-fits-all solution, and the final cost will vary depending on many factors. A custom setup with two access points and six cameras typically costs around $3,000 - $4,000. Get in touch to schedule an on-site visit to discuss your requirements.
2. Just the gate, please
Maybe you already have cameras around your house and are happy with them. But the gate is a bit far for your internet signals to reach, and/or doesn’t have an outlet to plug in the devices. Those dingy solar cameras? They can’t handle continuous recording and often bug out when you need them most (i.e., at night).
So we’ve made implementing surveillance at property gates easy — we integrate everything onto a pole, help you plunk it down, and fine-tune the configuration to ensure it streams to your phone 24/7.
So, what’s on this contraption?
Two internet-enabled cameras with high-endurance SD cards for secure, local storage
A motion-activated flood light
An access point to pull the internet signal
A solar panel to generate power for continuous recording
A battery to ensure everything works through the night
For this solution to work, you need a direct line of sight from your Starlink (or Hughesnet or Viasat) router to the gate within 50-75’ (as the crow flies). Otherwise, we can help you set up a relay to beam the signal at an additional charge.
Launching Fall 2025, with an estimated cost of $500 - $750. Available for pre-order. Email ling@justplugsolar.com (subject line “Gate security pole pre-order”) and we’ll put you on the special list for first dibs.
3. DIY, but we’ve got your back
Security cameras are super easy to set up. You can go the DIY route if you want to plop one or two around the house. Here are some “limitations” you should be aware of:
You’re adding no more than two cameras.
You have no more than 3 lightweight IoT devices (e.g., smart thermostat, light switches) that will compete for bandwidth.
You don’t have a smart TV connected to your internet on the 2.4GHz band.
The cameras are within 30’ of the router, and the signal doesn’t have to punch through barriers like a steel wall.
You aren’t using your internet all day, running a gazillion devices for streaming and gaming.
You’re ok with spending some time and fiddling a bit to get things right.
If that’s you, you can start with the DIY route. We’ve compiled a list of equipment and some simple instructions to get you started — and you can get it at no cost. Email ling@justplugsolar.com (subject line “Security camera equipment list request”) and we’ll send it to you.
If you hit a snag along the way, want us to check your work, or need help fine-tuning, you can always reach out, and we’ll swoop in to save the day (the service will be billed at an hourly rate with a flat, nominal travel fee).
Prefer to have us do it for you? No problem! We can show up with all the equipment, wires, mounting fixtures, and tools to get it done. The cost depends on the setup and complexity, but most clients spend around $800. Get in touch.
